After A While You Learn

After a while you learn
The subtle difference between
Holding a hand and chaining a soul
And you learn that love doesn’t mean possession
And company doesn’t mean security.
And you begin to learn that promises aren’t contracts
And presents aren’t promises and you begin to accept
Your defeats with your head up and your eyes ahead
With the grace of an adult not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build your roads today
Because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans
And futures have ways of falling down in mid-flight.
After awhile you learn that even sunshine
Burns if you get too much so you plant your
Own garden and decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure
That you really are strong
And you really do have worth
And you learn
And you learn…

Yep, I sure do remember you. :) I've been really busy helping my Mom and my best friend this past year, so I haven't gotten out much other than taking the two of them to the doctors' offices. That's probably why ya' haven't seen me around for a while. Aaaannd....I got tired of being a blonde, so back in August I decided to make a change in my hair color....a major change. LOL Thanks for stopping by and I'm glad that you enjoy my blog. :)

My Mom is doing much better. She finished up chemo and radiation and is now getting back to normal. My friend is still having a really rough time, though. :( Thanks for the thoughts. I appreciate them.

Yeah, I still talk to Missy every now and then. (She lives next door. LOL) She and her husband stopped by to visit not too long ago. :)
