I Wanna Be Your Spleen

I haven't told you this yet, but since I have you here, let me just tell you: I wanna be your spleen.

I want be one of your weird, mysterious internal organs
one of those things that lies somewhere between here and here,
where exactly, we're not sure
I want to be inside you
and somehow be a vital part in your physical survival
without you knowing exactly why

I want to know that you would die without me
but that you don't know exactly how that would happen without me
only that it would

I wanna be your spleen, not your lungs, no
and not your heart
or any of those other "famous" organs
that any decent fifth-grader knows all the ins and outs of

I don't want you to know the intimate details
of why you wouldn't survive without me --
"Well, you provide oxygen to my body,
and you airate my red blood cells
which then course their way through my body,
spreading the precious oxygen to all needed parts."
No, I don't want to be that, because if I was, then before you know it, you'll have figured out
how the organ is defective
and how to fix it
or God forbid, how to replace it
with a newer, stronger, better

I don't want to be replaced by a baboon heart
and left in some giant biotissue trash can
I don't want to be attached to a pacemaker
and have my movements, my actions regulated
by a plastic, battery-operated machine
No, I wanna be your small intestine, baby,
I wanna be your extra kidney,
I wanna be your spleen,
just this simple little non-descript organ of yours
that lets you live your life happily
that lets you explore the world in new ways
without you even knowing, realizing
that I am helping you

until, of course, I become inflamed

I tellya TD-

I love the way you think.

Your mind dives into places I have never thought about.

Thanks for expanding my consciousness.

:P Somehow, I just KNEW that you'd like this particular poem. hahaha ;)

I should be thanking YOU. It makes me feel very good to know that you actually take the time to think about what I post, to try and understand it...and in turn, you're learning all of the silly little things that make up "me". I am glad that I can help you see things in a slightly different way. :) That alone makes it all worthwhile. So...thank you. :)

Its always a pleasure to read something thats more intellectually stimulating than MP slams [bless her heart] and political flames.

Your interests and perspectives are incredibly unique.

I'm hoping I'll develop some new interests as well from seeing a different way of looking.

Have A Southern Day

Is there anything more intellectually stimulating than MP?

Wouldn't know it by reading these blogs, LMAO.

Hey, ILP. It's good to see ya' here. I'd been wondering where you'd disappeared to. LOL Hope you get your computer all straightened out. It sucks when it starts giving ya' problems.

I'm glad you and the girlies got to get out and enjoy the pretty weather. It was really nice out that day. I sure hope that all of you managed to get by without catching colds, too.

Great job on the quitting smoking. So far, I haven't been able to stick to my resolution completely. (Haven't abandoned it either, though.) I'll carry through with it, but there are just certain things that I can't keep a real positive attitude about at the moment. Thank goodness for finding someone that I can talk to easily...who is willing to listen...someone who keeps me laughing almost constantly. Honestly, how can ya' be negative when you're laughing?! ;) People really don't know what a blessing they are sometimes. Anyway....(got carried away there)...good luck with getting in shape. I'm sure that you'll be able to do that without much trouble. :)

Southern Boy, thank you very much. :) It makes me feel really good knowing that my way of thinking (and my interests) are appreciated.

I don't know if you realize it or not, but you're quite unique yourself. :) You always manage to make me smile even when I don't really feel like it. Thank you for that. You have a gift (aside from the "Blessing of Bullshit" one...LMAO).

"Democrat", thanks for visiting my blog. MP sure does catch a lot of hell around the blogs, doesn't she?! It doesn't even seem to matter if she lashes back at people or not...they just keep on keepin' on about her, regardless. Reminds me a whole lot of kids on a playground...picking and poking, trying to provoke a fight out of her. heh Thanks again for stopping by.
